My name is Shannon Taaffe, I am a Canine Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCC) accredited through NC State University of Veterinary Medicine. https://www.ncsuvetce.com/canine-fitness-cscc/cscc-graduates/cscc-florida/
I currently have 7 dogs in all age groups. I started learning about canine fitness to reduce the risk of injury, enhance performance and strengthen our bond. It wasn’t until my dog, Prospect, a 35 lb. Dutch Shepherd x Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix, was a case study in the program that I realized the true impact canine fitness has on our canine partner. When Prospect started his dock diving career, he was jumping 14-17’. He utilized his front end for everything & therefore his case study was designed to teach him how to use his rear. Training & dedication to a fitness program took us on a journey where we won the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge with a jump of 32’1” and achieved a World Record jump.
I have been involved in canine fitness and dog sports for over 20 years. I have a variety of training techniques in my skill set that I have gained over the years from esteemed canine fitness professionals which provides me the ability to adapt to the dog in front of me. My participation in numerous dog sports gives me the understanding of what your canine partner needs to enhance their performance safely. Formalized Canine Fitness Programs for sport, working and companion dogs designed with realistic expectations for the individual dog and handler.
